Dehydration can reduce your exercise performance by nearly half!
Signs you are dehydrated: Dry throat/ mouth, headache, lethargy, dry skin, muscle weakness, dark urine an dizziness
What happens when you get dehydrated:
Reduction in blood volume – low blood pressure which leads to headaches and dizziness.
Decreased sweating which increases your core temperature, playing havoc with your organ function.
Increase rate of muscle glycogen use which increases fatigue Slower reaction times, and poor concentration are also common side effects of dehydration.
Hydrate by sipping water before, during and after your activity, and try to reduce alcohol and caffeine consumption as these will further dehydrate you. You could also try adding some electrolytes to your water.
